College Scholarships 
                                
NHHS Student Receives NAACP Scholarship
Lamont G. Williams, a senior from New Hanover High School has been awarded an academic scholarship from the Wilmington Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Lamont plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a Pre-Med major. 


NHHS Student named Killian Family Old Well Scholar
Tyler George, a senior at New Hanover High School (NHHS), has been named the 2014 Killian Family Old Well Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the son of Chris and Melissa George of Wilmington, N.C. 

Tyler was selected from a very qualified pool of applicants based on his outstanding achievements in academics, athletics and leadership. At NHHS, he reached the top of his class in academic standing, was elected vice president of the National Honor Society, captained the soccer team in his junior and senior years, and also earned his Eagle Scout rank. 
NHHS Student Receives Kiwanis Scholarship
The Wilmington Kiwanis Club presented a George H. Chadwick Memorial Scholarship to Madison Cubbage from New Hanover High School.

Baseball Fundraiser
                               
What: Wildcat Baseball Yard Sale
Where: NHHS parking lot by tennis courts
When: Saturday, June 7th
Time: 7:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

*We will pick up any items that the community wants to donate to the sale.  Email Amy Croom @acroom@ec.rr.com and the team will make arrangements to pick up your items- nothing too big or too small- we can haul it all for you!!

*If you want to sell your own items- $25 and you can have your own sale.  Email Amy for more information.

Proctors Needed

In order to administer our state exams, we need proctors! There are no skills needed, just your presence in the room! You can volunteer for any day that is convenient for you from June 9th-13th. You can volunteer for one, two, three, four or all days!  

Any senior parents who proctor will receive two tickets

Band Uniform Fundraiser
Fundraising Goal of 150 New Jackets...
as of June 2nd; 115 purchased, 35 to go
 
The New Hanover High School Marching Wildcats are raising money for new band jackets and we need your help.
Our band jackets are 12 years old and have been worn over one hundred times at community events, football games and competitions.
The Wildcat Marching Band has doubled in size in the past five years and we need more jackets as we continue to grow.  
Due to budget cuts all the money to purchase jackets will come from alumni, boosters, family and friends.

Get Involved Today….. Join PTSA

Volunteer for next year now by filling out and turning in the attached sheet.
  1. Join the PTSA today - your membership dues and donations help fund many programs at NHHS that benefit the learning experience of your child.
  2. Volunteer - There are many opportunities to help at the school from supplying baked goods to proctoring for exams.  Email Hope Sloan orMelissa Kirkby and they will fill you in.
  3. Shop at Harris Teeter - Make sure your VIC card is linked at your local Harris Teeter and the PTSA gets a certain percentage when we buy Harris Teeter brand products.
  4. Attend PTSA General Meetings and Open House.
All NHHS PTSA activities are designed and carried out in the best interest of all NHHS parents, students and teachers at NHHS. 
These activities are funded by our annual membership drive, parent donations and community fundraising partners. 
We do not ask you or your students to participate in fundraisers.  

Your membership and donations support our PTSA efforts with: Teacher Mini-Grants, Hospitality Events, Student Academic Achievement Recognition, Volunteer Coordination, Grounds Improvements and Beautification, Communication (this weekly E- newsletter and hard copy Wildcat News sent home with report cards), Teacher Appreciation events, Legislation Awareness, Special Projects, Staff / Faculty Liaison,  Senior Projects Reception and NHHS Website Support.  Your assistance with any of these efforts is welcomed and encouraged.
